A bit about Jim.

Jim was born in Beirut to a Dutch mother and an English father. He was packed off to posh boarding schools, before studying English Literature at Exeter. At university, he wrote several achingly pretentious plays which won prize money and were performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He continued his education at London College of Printing, where he had his first brush with graphic design and journalism, and formed the underachieving garage band the Bridge.

Jim went on to work on several long-forgotten magazines, before arriving at Direction, the late-lamented advertising and design monthly. He was Deputy Editor when it folded, but by then he’d interviewed Annie Leibowitz, Malcolm McLaren, Gert Dumbar and many other luminaries of the visual arts. Afterwards, he spent three years at the Guardian, mainly on the Arts desk and Weekend, before setting up totalcontent, a design-savvy, creative copywriting business.
